Being Part of a Great Town

We couldn’t be more proud than to call Waxhaw home to one of our pediatric dental office locations. We recently had the pleasure of attending the monthly Waxhaw Business Association meeting.

The Waxhaw Business Association was gracious enough to allow us to provide breakfast for the local business owners, and we felt privileged to be in attendance surrounded by so many individuals that are largely involved within the community for charitable and community awareness. At this time we had the opportunity to thank many of the local businesses who gave for our recent back pack and back to school supply drive.  It was through their support and donations we were able to send 50 students to school with a back pack and school supplies to kick off the beginning of the school year.

This meeting also allows those who attend to stay up-to-date with local events and community discussions.  So many business owners had opportunities to involve the community in family friendly events.  With our focus being on providing great dental care to the children of the community we feel it is important to know the views within the community along with all family geared events.

When a room full of entrepreneurs get together great ideas are sure to collide.  We look forward to more community involvement in the great town of Waxhaw.  Look for more things coming your way that are family focused and a great way to stay active and in touch with your home town. Thanks again to the Waxhaw Business Association for allowing us the opportunity to be a part of something small yet so big. Here at Young and Polite Children’s Dentistry we see beyond our dental office walls and into the heart of each town that allows us the opportunity to provide dental care to their family & friends.

Our Defensive Line Against Sugary Drinks

It’s no big secret that too much sugar can cause tooth decay, and as more and more research is being compiled and studies completed that indicate this connection, what are we to do about it? The answer is simple. We have to teach ourselves and as proactive caretakers, have to teach our children .

“Healthier habits” to take with them through life, give them the best chance possible!

Here at Young & Polite located in Waxhaw, Mint Hill and our South Tryon location we encourage our patients  to try and limit sugary drink consumption and opt for the healthier choice instead, water!

So what happens when too much sugar meets saliva?

Every time you sip a soda, the sugar in the drink and the bacteria in your mouth mix. This combination forms acid and the acid attacks the teeth, eating away at the enamel (the strong, protective outer layer of the tooth).  This constant attack as we sip sodas, soft drinks, sports drinks or fruit juices, continuously bombards the teeth and over time breaks down the enamel so much that decay starts to occur.

Children and teenagers teeth are most in danger because their teeth are still forming and introducing sugar at this time of development makes the teeth much more vulnerable.
But you’re not alone in the fight against tooth decay, consumption of sugary drinks is falling and many schools are opting to reduce or remove sugar loaded drinks from the school cafeteria. Water is the best source for thirst and to keep hydrated.

Young & Polite Children's Dentistry are ready to be your defensive team against decay! Schedule  your child’s routine checkups and we’ll encourage healthier habits and teach your children all the techniques they need to tackle tooth decay! We offer 3 convenient locations for your loved ones. Call today to schedule!
